DJ sound equipment, lighting, and everything that’s provided varies so much that it can be difficult to determine who has quality equipment and who doesn’t. Other than having a talented, experienced DJ at your event, the sound system is the second most important item to consider with a DJ service.
The best DJ companies update their equipment, have computerized music libraries, and allow you to see and hear what you’re getting before siging a contract. They should easily offer the following:
- A listening area in their office to hear the system and see the lighting. If the service you’re considering doesn’t offer this, ask them why not? Do they offer an option to hear their system at an actual event? If not, then how do you know what it will sound like? We feel that taking a “test drive” before you sign with anyone is a prudent thing to do.
- A detailed description and photos on their web site or literature. Clients are concerned that the set up is visually appealing with no tacky signs or banners, or cords and wires exposed.
- Any DJ service that uses meaningless statements like “Our equipment is state of the Art” with no photos, details, or way of letting you know what you are receiving from them should be avoided. Sound systems are all different. Take the time to see and listen to what you are going to receiving for the cost.
